-Bessies mother is an outsider that can see whats going on. to me this shows that not everyone that comes to gatehead is toally snowed. unlike the doctor and Mr. Brocklehurst were totally obliviouse to waht was going on. as for the hired help most of them think Jane deserved to be treated like crap. at least a couple people in Janes life can see her for who she is and not feel that she deserves to be treated as less than a human being.
