- holy snap. i would not be able to sit there and take that from him. to pretty much be called comletely evil and horrible right to my face like that and not even be given the chanceto stick up for myself. he is such a jerk. does he even realize what that kind of stuff can do to a person and the way they think of themselves? but on the up side it seems that she has taken a chapter from Helens book and just took it hte way she was supposed to.

Journal Entry # 29
"Julias hair curls naturally" returned Miss Temple, still more quietly. "Natuarally!Yes but we are not to conform to nature: i wish these girls to bethe children of Grace: and why that abundance? I have agian and again intimated that i desire the hair to be arranged closely and modestly....Tell all the first form to rise up and direct their faces to the wall." Page 66.
-what the heck. he wants them ato cut their hair! i would not let that crazy old man touch any of my hair. he is suck a tight ***. why does everything have to be that way? what matters is that they learn and that they are provided for, not that they look perfect and half alive. its not like they go to the most privileged and upper class school in the city. they are orphans. i would want to just be left alone to go to school with out haveing some old guy telling me what my hair can and cant do.

Should any little accidental dissappiontment of the appitite occur, such as, the spoiling of a meal, the under or over dressing of a meal, the incident is ought not to be neutralised by replacing with something more delicate....into these childrens mouths you may indeed feed their vile bodies but you think little of how you starve their immortal souls." -he is such a stiff. why does it matter that instead of starving these kids she fed them. if they are hungry they arent going to get anything out of the day if all they can think about is the fact that htey are hungry. he thinks that starving them is going to strengthen their spirits? when you fast your supposed to do it when you have a personal reason to do it. not because your school owner is a total stiff.

-it sounds like it isnt a very pleasant experience to go to church, especailly if your one of the little ones. i would be so pissed if they made me stay up untill i was so tired that i was falling down. i mean wat the hell? what do they think that they are teaching them that way? they clearly arent going to learn anything that way cuase theyre to busy sleeping lol.

"Sundays were dreary days in that wintery season. we had to walk two miles to Brocklebridge church where are patron officiated. we set out cold we arrived at church colder: during the morning service we became almost paralyzed. it was too far to return to dinner, and an allowance of cold meat and bread, in the same penuriuos proportion observed in our ordinary meals, was served round between services." Page 62
-It sounds like there is alot of cold stuff. i wouldnt think it healthy for all these kids to be out and exposed to that much cold with out any heating or opportunities to warm up. the walking makes sense cuz it was the only way to get around. but as far as the cold food and services, i dont see why it needs to be that way. cant they heat up the food or at least put them near a fire or somehting. it seems like instead of looking forward to church they dread it. you dont get anything out of church if you dread going...

-Helen believes in the good in everyone i think. she seems to enjoy saying that she can be the bigger person. she takes her punishment, she says to turn the other cheek, she does her best to walk in the light of christ. she wants to better herself and "fix" her faults. she wants to be the best she can be. its niceto read about someone who is like that.

- Helen is a person who can take it so that the rest of the girls can learn from her example. she takes the pain of her punishment with out a tear or a flinch and all that. she simply takes it because she knows that in the end it is ment to better her and her teachers punished her harshly because they thought the best of her and thought that she culd be great. knowing this helps her be able to take the punishment that gets doled out her direction.
